Here in Newport RI thing are likely to be OK. The governor has stated that ocean is vital to our tourist industry and has not specifically shut down marinas and boat yards. She did shut down parking at all beaches and parks but not access.

The Newport Harbor Master has posted notice that all out of state vessels self quarantine for 14 days flying the Q flag.
A view of the harbor shows that nothing is yet moving, I see some mooring being put in many less that I’d expect for this time of year.

My boatyard is in Fall River MA and is operating as normal but safe distancing is being observed. Fortunately when chipping paint most of my friends can’t be found anyway!.

I’m scheduled to launch next week and I’ll stay in Fall River until the Navy marina at Newport opens for the season May 1st as always. The Navy marina, Coaster’s Harbor Marina, has said there will be no liveaboards until mid May. Military bases have special concerns as working from home is meaningless if you live in a barracks so they are being extra careful

I’ll contact the Newport Harbor Master before coming the 7 miles from Mass to Newport, I’m isolated in Newport either way. I expect Newport’s Q flag isn’t for us locals but I’ll check anyway as a courtesy.
