[C320-list] Bilge pump repair

These pumps are almost bullet proof and easy to work on…you get the same symptoms if a piece of trash is caught in the diagram…a common issue when the boats were new because occasionally a little construction trash would wash into the bilge and get into the pump if there was no screen installed by the dealer or owner. Disassembly is fairly obvious, just note the orientation of the diaphragm so you can reassemble correctly. It is a good idea get some coarse bronze wool and stuff it into the intake hose as a screen.

Subject: [C320-list] Bilge pump repair

My Jabsco remote bilge pump is spitting water. The actual pump is working fine. I believe the diaphragm is kaput. I found a replacement kit on Catalina Direct which looks like it provides all I need to repair it. It’s about one third of the cost of a full replacement.

Has anyone used one of these kits? If so, is it a fairly straight forward repair for a mechanically challenged DIY guy?

Thanks as always for the help through this site.
