HI Mark,
Our YC has WIFI on the docks.  However, to improve reliability I put an
Access Point on the boat that had allowed for an external antenna.  Then I
found a multi element Yagi antenna that I could aim right at the YC's WIFI
Router.   The Samsung hub is connected via Ethernet to the AP.   Gives me
some peace of mind that I can check on the boat anytime I want.

I've been thinking of doing this to provide peace of mind while away from
the boat, but haven't figured out the best way to do with without an
available wifi connection. Do you use the marina wifi if you are in a marina
or set up a hotspot? If a hotspot, how did you set it up? Do you need to
keep a cellphone on board for this?

Hi Scott,
Not what you want but I have a Samsung Smarthome hub on the boat and have
many sensors throughout.   Also have some remote switches so that if I'm
staying on the boat and it is cold I can preheat it before I get there.

Asking here first.  Looking for a water sensor alarm I can place in the
bilge above the bilge pump sensor. "Want" it to be wifi based.  NOT part of
a whole home "system".  Needs to notify my Android.
Our boat is at our private dock that can reach our wifi.  I have heard of
some that use wifi that will notify you with an app.  Anybody have/use one
they like?
