Use the old gasket as a template for the new one, and go very sparingly
with the super glue to 'fuse' the ends.  Three or four drops tops, and try
to keep the glue more towards the middle of the gasket material.  Ideally
you don't want any super glue near any sealing surfaces.  It can create
hard spots.

Also...cut the gasket to size with a single sided razor blade.   Push
straight down. Avoid a sawing/slicing action.
