[C320-list] Saloon table

It’s a fairly exacting task, and rather time-consuming. I completely replaced the flooring, using 3/4” marine-grade plywood and Lonseal vinyl laminate. If you’ve done woodworking, the job isn’t really that difficult. Trace pieces onto the plywood, cut (using circular saw for straight runs, and jigsaw for curves), and belt-sand edges. It’s important to get a precise cut and to do all edge sanding before proceeding.

Fit the plywood to the cabin to make sure you have a nice, tight fit, then seal the bottoms and edges of the boards with epoxy (I used West System). Lay the boards out on the Lonseal and trace outlines, being careful to line up stripes on the laminate—assuming you are using a teak/Holly laminate. It’s best to allow about 1/8” excess laminate on all sides.

Then, glue the laminate to the boards using West System thickened with silica filler—it should be the consistency of mayonnaise. Check the alignment of the stripes as you position the laminate on the boards. Use a flooring roller to roll out any bubbles, then put weight on the laminate. I used the old floor boards, weighted down with sandbags. Finally, I trimmed the excess with a knife and belt-sanded any remaining to make it flush with the edge of the board.

Hope that helps!
