I do not believe that I have ANY alarms/horns on my boat (but wish I did !!). I have 2 lamps on the engine panel. I have one lamp for charge (or specifically it lights up when/if the alternator is not charging, or if the idle is too low). There is another lamp that I assume is for both low oil pressure and high temperature. Is this the setup for you other older hull numbers?
I did overheat one time when my engine water pump seized up. However, the clue that there was a problem was a screeching as the fan belt still turned around the seized up flywheel for the water pump and we smelled burning rubber. I honestly don't remember if the engine panel control temperature light was on since I turned off the engine very quickly. Also, the engine panel location and lights visibility stinks where it is located.
My temp gauge typically stays now at around 170 degrees and I am tuned into the sound of water spitting out the exhaust.
