Yup, it probably would. I opted for the easiest solution I could find at my local West Marine. And BTW, thanks for the correction on the link.

It will run you about $25. It attaches to your throttle cable—I have mine close to my engine, and a screw on the unit adjusts the friction on the cable. Solved my problem pretty easily.
