I can’t imagine why not having a load on any type of deep cycle lead acid
battery which is fed by a proper 3 stage shore charger would have any
negative effect at all on the battery.   Meanwhile...if your thru hulls
spring a real leak while you are away from the boat and now your pump is
pulling 8-10 amps...it won’t be too long before your battery is dead, your
boat has sunk in its slip, and you are at best staring at a big deductible
and at worst a denied claim...  not worth the risk for a recco that in this
case makes absolutely no sense.
