[C320-list] Cruising / sailing magazines

Most sailing magazines, Good Old Boat excepted, only write about the companies that buy ads in their publications. It has always baffled me how they retain any subscribers when most of their articles are about multimillion-dollar boats that the vast majority of us could never hope to afford.

Catalina has a large, loyal base of customers who have kept the company profitable in times that have sunk most other boat manufacturers. I suspect it doesn’t need to buy a bunch of ads to keep sufficient orders rolling in.

I’ve never liked the French boats much. I don’t think the construction and quality of materials matches those of Catalina.

I get subscriptions I read each month of a couple/few mags and anything
else I come across.

I see articles and advertisements, etc for jeanneau, beneteau and
everything in between but never a mention of Catalinas.

Why is that?
