[C320-list] Intermittent list emails - and a NEW TOPIC TOILET RELATED!

It is easier to read old threads if you don't suddenly change the topic
in the middle of the thread. Could you start a new thread?

And now that I have everyone’s attention…. :)

I am planning to replace the toilet on my C320. The current toilet has a leak i
n the pump and for an extra $100 I thought I would just replace the whole thing
rather than just the pump assembly. Also, I can now get a standard size bowl vs
. a compact sized toilet currently installed.

There seems to be a hose running from the flushing pump outlet tail to the toile
t that goes through the back of the head rather than straight across like the on
e supplied with the new toilet. Can I just use the new line or should I connect
the existing lines that run behind the head wall? Is there a reason for that c
onfiguration that I’m missing? This is a standard Jabsco marine toilet.

Are there any other gotchas to doing this seemingly simple swap (I know, famous
last words…the easiest of jobs always turn into complications of the unexpected
variety when it comes to boat maintenance).

Thanks!

About 11 years ago, when I joined this list, I got well and truly flamed for dar
ing to suggest that we migrate to something a little more modern! To be fair,
eleven years ago cellphone coverage and smartphones weren't what they are today,
so the argument was that an email-style list was very low on data usage and ban
dwidth requirements and could be relied upon when trying to get an answer to a p
roblem whilst upside down in the aft lazarette locker, using a Nokia 3220 phone
whilst ten miles offshore.

AT the risk of being flamed again; is it time to revisit this?

Spam filters don't like the way this list is setup so a lot of
messages get filtered out.

These days setting up a mailing list on a service that is not
linked to spam and then getting it to correctly process SPF,
DKIM, and DMARC is a lot more difficult than it used to be.
