[C320-list] Adding a single-line second reef

Hi All,

I sail in the SF Bay and after my first full season with Argo (#505), I realize I need to rig a second reef before next spring. 

The boat came to me with the 1998-era factory single-line reef setup. After sailing it a bit, and reading through the c320 archives, I decided to change the rig a bit - I adding a Harken 57mm Swivel Air Block at each cringle, attached using an 8mm dyneema loop to a 1.25” ring on the other side. I also pulled the existing “car” out of the boom to inspect - it looked ok so I lubricated it and slipped it back in. The new setup works well - Sets evenly, snugly and with very little friction going in or out. 

Since all that seems good, I thought I could duplicate the setup for reef#2, but on the other side. I was looking at it today and realized there will be a few of issues. First, I’d like to use the same kind of in-boom car since it's really simple, robust (’98!), and proven not to foul. Problem is I can’t  find one anywhere. Could use two shackled blocks as others have suggested, but I worry that they may be more prone to fouling.

Second, It's unclear to me where to terminate the internal second reef line on the outboard boom. The first reef is terminated by passing the end through the hole in the outboard boom cap and made fast with a figure eight knot. There is no obvious place to terminate the second internal reef line. 

Third, I will have to free up a line clutch on the starboard side, which means the topping lift may have to be tied off at the mast. Or I could try to add a forth clutch.

I’m hoping to get input from others who (on a similar vintage hull) has successfully duplicated the factory single line reef setup for a second reef. Or other words of wisdom :)
