[C320-list] Maxwell 1000 Windless Tripping Circuit Breaker

That windlass is not designed to break the anchor out and the manual says so. Too much load will trip the breaker. Corrosion on the lugs will also increase electrical resistance and cause the breaker to trip.

Mine will also trip occasionally. Ever since I replaced my anchor with a Rocna 15, the anchor has great holding and I love it, but typically the windlass can’t pull it initially without a little help. So, I have to drive the boat forward after pulling up the slack in order to break it loose. At that point, the windlass pulls it up fine. So, the breaker tripping prevents the motor from pulling too many amps and damaging itself.
