Scott,
There are videos on how to replace the brake pads on the Edson pedestal…pretty much what you need to know to get to the cable. Before you go there though, take the cable off the throttle shaft at the front of the engine first and see if it is the cable or the shaft that is the problem. On # 867, the water pump on the engine splashed water on the mechanism that the cable operates at the front of the engine and it was rusting up. It took a fair amount of penetrating oil and rotating the shaft back and forth with a wrench to free it. Then a liberal application of marine lubricant helped keep from rusting again. After this the cable moved freely.

Thanks,
Chris Burti

Subject: [C320-list] Throttle cable

Thinking about replacing my throttle cable. Any thoughts or tricks? I was going to first try to pull the inside cable out clean it blow it out, then oil it, then reinsert but getting to the clamp inside the top of the pedestal does not look easy. Then I was looking to see about replacing it but how do you reach all the way down in there to get that pedestal section unmounted?
