Works well despite a slight offset. Hardest part of the project was pulling the old drum off - used a pretty heavy puller and a lot of elbow grease. I also removed the windless and replaced the gear oil at that time. There is a very helpful write up on the site describing the removal process .

Scott, heard that too.  Might work if rubber doesn't slip.  Might make for better grip and less tailing pull force.  Worth a try especially for salt water.

I do 2 wraps of rope onto the drum and tail it up.  When it gets to the chain I just pull the chain onto the drum and continue until the anchor is nested.  Now over the years the chrome is off the drum in places but I expect this to become the next owners problem.  Anchor is a 15 Kg CQR clone.
