I don’t know if I would want to permanently install one because it would
become another potential failure spot…..but….they make inline T's for car
coolant systems that allow you to attach a garden hose. You can install
one temporarily on the hot water heater loop and use that to gravity fill
the heater loop to avoid having to burp the engine.

Also…the preferred coolant for the 3GM30F engine topic comes up a lot and
it's worth noting that the coolant for that engine that is most preferred
is either the Yanmar coolant (which is a reddish color) or the Havoline ELC
coolant (which is orange in color) The formulas of these two coolants
contains the right rust inhibitors for the metals in the engine. Never
mix these coolants with the green stuff….or the blue stuff for all you
German performance car people. The flush procedure in Karl's original
write up was really about doing a flush to get rid of the green stuff the
PO may have thought was a good idea and replacing it with a proper OAT
coolant. This level of flush is probably overkill for an engine that has
not suffered “coolant abuse”.

FWIW
