[C320-list] Exhaust Elbow Question

I can only speak of the Perkin's exhaust elbow, but I'd guess Westerbeke and
Yanmar are similar. Had to replace mine around 300 hours due to salt water
use and infrequent running at full operating temp. Easy to remove. Mine was
almost completely plugged and it made more sense to replace. A lightly
fouled elbow could probably be cleaned with an acid wash and wire brushing.
Bought my replacement elbow directly from a Perkins distributor with a new
gasket. Also easy to replace. Be sure to use anti-seize on the bolts. I
should mention that when the old elbow came off, I found a lot of carbon
soot in the exhaust manifold. I vacuumed it out with my mini-vac.

This is not a difficult job. Don't pay a mechanic if you don't have to!
