[C320-list] FW: Cutlass bearing

Karl,

If you need to replace the bearing, it can be done without removing the
shaft and rudder. A local yard should have a cutlass bearing puller and
charge about 1.5 hours labor. You can see a picture of one on the C36 site:
http://www.catalina36.org/association/TomSenatorsToolbox2.htm
I'm having mine done this spring. I've got 425 hours and the bearing is
already worn out. Maybe the PO never aligned the engine or ran it in a very
silty area.

Rod,
How much did the SS shaft cost? I might be tempted to replace mine since I
already plan to R&R the PSS seal to do the upgrade. With the cutlass bearing
and shaft seal removed, maybe the shaft will come off without removing the
rudder. If not, I'll stick with the OE shaft.
