[C320-list] Bomar Hatch Screen Installation

I recently picked up a Bomar hatch screen (with requisite trim piece for installation) for the overhead hatch in the main cabin.  The new trim piece with screen will replace the old trim piece.

Question:  Has anyone removed the old trim piece?  It seems to be caulked in place.  Does the entire hatch need to be removed or can the piece be removed/replaced with the hatch in place?
