there is also a large bolt, washer and nut on the
bottom of the stanchion where it goes thru the toe
rail.  On hull 249 the wood trim piece is attached to
a fiberglass lip.  My stubby fingers couldn't get up
under this to get at the nut so I used a circular
drill bit to open a hole in the lip.  If you are lucky
the bolt and nut won't be partially buried in the
hull-deck sealer.  If it is you can just chip around
it.
