I left it out because it can be left out of the picture (at least for us cruisers) until the reach turns into a run, the traveler is leeward as far as it can go (or not), and then because you Have to ease the main sheet to get the boom farther to leeward the only thing left to hold down (if you want to) that sheeted out boom is the Vang. Just trying to keep it simple (for me too) and as Orlando suggested - reading up on it is the best way...... and to keep it in the Catalina family Don Gillette of C30 fame... has some good stuff out there on Sail Trim. Speaking of vangs I
