[C320-list] Shallow Bilge vs Deep Bilge

JeffC's explanation is more accurate. Gerry Douglas explained this to us at the factory tour in the Marina Del Rey C320 annual meeting/regatta in 2004.

There are 3 different drafts in 320 history. There was a period of time where the draft was deeper because the bilge had been made deeper but the original keel was retained. Then they switched to the 310 keel to shorten the draft back to spec. There is a picture of the two keels side-by-side on our 320 website.

  The 3 drafts are:
original shallow bilge and original keel
new deeper bilge and original keel (deeper draft than spec)
new deeper bilge and new 310 keel (draft closer to original but not an exact match)

  Hope this helps

It is not the external shape of the underbody but the manner in which the
Kiel was laid down. It has to do with the way that ended up in the bilge.
I seem to recall that this was changed with hull 355, but that may be wrong.

In other words the external shape is the same.

I believe C320's had the same keel, regardless of bilge modifications, up
thru hull 846. At that point they were switched to the shallower C310 keel.
