Chris: Don't use the StaSet X if you are going to strip the core.
StaSet X has a very loose cover and almost all of the strength is in the
core. Unfortunately, since StaSet X has a linear core it's also
unsuitable for use with a stripped cover. The core will fall apart
without the protection of the cover. You will have to switch to
something else to implement your plan. (That's probably what you had in
mind already.)
