[C320-list] Access to the Anchor Windlass

Hi,

I cut part of it away on my boat (as you saw in the pics).
It's part of the liner, and I spoke with the factory years ago and they said
no harm should come of removing the lower portion of it.

I did this to gain a few inches of shelf depth and to provide quick access
to the windlass. If you just need access to the windlass, try using a large
hole saw. In any event, be careful about wires that may be behind it, and
it wouldn't hurt to kill the DC power first.

Subject: [C320-list] Access to the Anchor Windlass

I am part way through replacing the anchor windlass foot switch. I have
removed the timber in the front of the vee berth and I am confronted with a
flap of white fibre glass (about 12" x 18") in front of the windlass itself.
That flap has been removed in the photos on the technical gallery (Anchor
Windlass -
http://www.catalina320.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=album32 ).
Can anyone tell me whether there any use for that flap and if I can safely
remove it? (It sure looks to be useless!)
