[C320-list] Radar

Hi -- I chose to use Jon Vez' design and installed radar on a stern pole.
Installation was, as others note, very easy. Like Jon, I installed the
monitor on the panel above the nav station. I simply had no room at the
wheel for the gear, nor would I have been able to run the cable up through
the binnacle post. The one thing that bothers me is that in my particular
design there is fore and aft movement in the pole against the stern rail
(which gives a bit). Part of the reason for this is I chose a fairly high
mount to the stern (the point at which I mounted the base of the radar pole)
to keep the unit further above my head. I think if there were a greater
distance between the base of the pole and rail overall stability would be
greater. Performance of the radar in this position, in terms of detecting
objects, has been great. It never misses a test object.
