I opted to split the difference between the expense and depreciation hit of  
a new boat and the amount of work and money required to get an older boat up 
to  spec.  My boat was seven years old when I got it.  It had all the  options 
already on it, and everything worked fine.  In the three plus years  that I 
have owned it, I have replaced the batteries, charger and Dutchmen  lines.
