Larry,

The following is an excerpt of a post provided by Karl Mielenhausen
regarding the proper Target product. Their Website and technical people are
excellent. I used the hybrid varnish to refinish the wood around the galley,
the interior handholds at the companionway and the galley drawer trim last
spring with great results.

Here is Karl's post:

Your boat probably had Oxford II acrylic water-based varnish (Target
Coatings) on all the interior wood surfaces, satin finish on the sole. The
product Catalina is using now is the 7000 series Hybrid varnish, still a
water-based product. See the Target Coatings website for more details.
Their woodworking forums make great reading.
Jeff Weiss, their technical guru, tells me that the Oxford II can easily be
recoated with the new 7000 series. Clean and sand lightly, remove all dust
with a water moistened cloth (not a solvent based tack cloth). One trick
that refinshers use on small dents is to fill with superglue or build the
dent up with several layers of the finish lacquer.

Jon,

Which Target Coatings Varnish is used on the sole?

I have to do this too.

Hi Warren,

I saw your letter to PS regarding your experience with the 'Waterlox'
product for finishing your cabin sole.this is one of my early spring
projects and I was wondering if you could provide any additional information
about this. I was planning to use the Target Coatings product that Catalina
uses and many on this list have used, but after seeing the glowing
recommendations of 'Ultimate Sole' and your letter, I think I'll research
this a bit more. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
