Hi Tom,

The heat produced by the reverse cycle unit is dependent on the water
temperature. Back when I was on Lake Michigan in early April the water was
stil 38-40 degrees and the reverse cycle would take a bit longer to start
throwing heat, but when it did it was more than enough with outdoor temps
around freezing.

I've worked in the boat on the hard in January with tempertures around 0F
wearing a T-shirt with only a 1KW electric heater running. There was no
wind and the sun was out. The boat had about 10" of snow on it which helped
insulate it. (Note, gelcoat is extremely slippery with snow on it.)

A letter to the manufacturer asking about BTU ratings in regard to water
temperature should go a long way in helping determine if it will produce
enough heat.
