John-When you think you hear the refrigerator cycling, check for fan noise
form either the battery charger in the forward part of the port cockpit
locker or the refrigerator fan in the port aft locker. On my refrigerator
you can hear a subtle flowing of compressed coolant in the refrigerator when
the compressor turns on. Just open the refrigerator when this happens and
you can hear the sound from the area of the freezer box. Some times the
fans are on at the same time. You can also turn off the shore power. Then
the only fan you will hear is for the refrigerator and you can do a cycling
analysis.

Laying in the main berth you can also discern whether the fan noise is
coming from the charger (forward) or the refrigerator compressor (aft).
