[C320-list] 1998 Chainplate rust

Chris, while what you say is true on your hull, the older hulls are not
solid glass at those locations. When we bought our 1994 #62, there was
staining inside around the chain plate bolts. Upon removing the plate, I saw
the hole was made through the cored deck. The core was wet and soft. I did
remove the wet core and after drying, filled it in with filled epoxy. Not
the toughest job to do. Bedding stanchions is worse. Now, 6 years later, I
think it's time to rebed the chain plates again.

Anytime water or dark stains are visible around backing plates, it's an
indication that rebeding may be necessary. Your advice to search the
archives is good. Much useful information can be found there.

Deck core rot is NOT an issue with factory installed hardware on a C-320.
Decks are solid glass at the chainplates, winches, turning blocks,
stanchions, etc.
