[C320-list] Wash Down Pump at Anchor Locker

Karl,

Thanks.

At this moment, I am thinking about making a portable, submersible unit,
using a Rule bilge pump mounted in a plastic sleeve sized to accept one of
the self coiling water hoses and power via an outdoor type extension cord on
deck (with on/off switch), connecting with the 12V DC outlet in on the panel
above the navigation desk. If it works well, I'll consider adding an
exterior 12V DC outlet at the bow, and another one in cockpit area. For
storage, the power cord would be wrapped around the outer portion of the
plastic sleeve holding the pump. The pump unit would be dropped overboard
and supported by a small line tied off at a cleat or stanchion base.
Portability would allow the unit to be used as an emergency backup bilge
pump. Also, if I ever use a stern anchor, the pump would be available in
cockpit area. And, last, but not least, the unit will be cheaper and easier
to put together....but not as elegant as a permanently installed unit.

I used the West Marine 7865678. Not sure it is available anymore. It
featured a 3.4 gpm pump with 70 psi cutoff.
Been working OK but more flow would be useful sometimes. I see that
most of the kits now feature a 5 gpm pump, which should be quite
adequate.
