[C320-list] Wind cable connector

Jeff,  The string is referred to as a messenger, and it runs through the compression post (from bottom tube at floor boards up to the junction of the bottom of mast and the compression post at deck level).  The wind instrument at the top of the mast requires a cable to be run from the top of the mast to the bottom of the mast at the deck level. Perhaps the original messenger line is still there. UNLESS you decide to use the wireless transducer--I planned to do that but sold the boat instead.
The really fun part is to run the wire to the steering pedestal.  A very simple thing to do BUT very aggravating.  you need to be young and agile, but it is doable.
I believe the mast would need to be un-stepped to allow access to the wires.
I would consider wireless.
Someone who has used the wireless units needs to chime in here.  Ken

This email sparked a big question I had.  I just installed new Raymarine electronics (depth, speed, temp).  My next project is to plug in wind but I'm just curious  how difficult it is to get the unit on the mast and run the cables to the back?  Is this an easy project or should I call in an expert?  I did notice a small piece of string coming out the bottom of the mast when I lifted the floor boards, not sure where that is going.  But any comments on the general scope of this project is appreciated.
