Don, what hull # are you? I inspected and adjusted my cables at the start of winter layup.
I saw no signs of corrosion, and recoated the cables, etc with a waterproof grease. I thought access was pretty good via berth aft hatch and starboard aft locker. I have hull 680 and it has always been in salt water.

I have an Epson chain and wire set up and the two cable clamps on one of the cables where it attaches to the eye bolt (which connects to the steering disk) were severely corroded to the point of undoubtable future failure. Oddly the two on the other cable appeared to be just fine. Im contemplating how I am going to replace these failing cable clamps and wondered if anyone else had been down this road. I only call this a nice surprise as I'm truly happy I saw this before it came apart and I found myself rudderless!!
