Thanks Bruce, I'll wander over and have a closer look. The exhaust hose is in the way, but i was able to get my phone in and take a darkish photo

Colin;
I'm actually down on the boat finishing up my 12 year service.  I cleaned up the bell housing and the transmission and repainted it.  On my inspection plate on the bell housing the word Ratio is cast into the part.  Right after that  2.21 is very lightly stamped onto the part.  If I had not just cleaned it all up and painted it I doubt it would have been readable.
