Last time I looked Tenara thread is more like $130 / 8 oz. cone.   If your
canvas guy used $25 thread it wasn't Tenara or equivalent thread which
could be a problem in a few years since the sun will destroy fabric store
outdoor thread in just a few short years .    Based on everything else you
described, perhaps you meant $120 per spool?
