[C320-list] Sailing in the time of coronavirus

Most of the major offshore races have been canceled on the East Coast. I was scheduled to sail in the Annapolis to Bermuda race, and it was canceled yesterday. We may try the Block Island race, which has been moved to June 19th pending further developments (original start date for “Thrash to the Onion Patch” which has also been canceled). Our marina is closed but they said we can still access the boat (Old Point Comfort marina in Hampton, VA). However, the bath house is not getting cleaned, so we have to make other arrangements (we are 3.5 hours from our boat). We plan to go next weekend for our first sail this year (assuming everything runs once I reinstall the heat exchanger tube). Of course, I also wonder if services like Sea-Tow are working. I hope to never need them but I expect they would be the only option if I ran into mechanical difficulty given the limited boating presence on the water.

Small work parties 5 or less allowed on site to prepare for a potentially disastrous spring flood. We suffered significant damage just last year. On our 24th of May long weekend a bunch of us sailors would raft up at the St Lawrence River Park Island, Cedar. Won’t happen this year and we’ll sadly miss it.
