[C320-list] Fuel Issue Resolution - Hopefully

Bob,

According to the Racor guide, the Racor pump should only be used to bleed the Racor filter. Take that for what it is worth. So, I opened the vent screw on the Racor and used the Racor pump to get good flow with no bubbles at the Racor. After that, I used my lift pump. First, I completely removed the bleed screw (3/4” box end) from the on-engine filter housing, so I could see if there were any bubbles at all. I pumped about 5 - 10x after the bubbles stopped to be completely sure, and then kept pumping as I re-installed the screw. Then, I moved to the injector pump screw (8mm, if I recall correctly) and did the same thing. Finally, when I opened the injector cap, I had someone turn the engine over until I saw good fuel spitting out. I have a remote starter but it is easier with a buddy.

Now, after I reassembled the system, a different boat owner stopped by and told me he installed a squeeze bulb in his fuel line entering into the Racor. I am fairly confident my fuel lines are 5/16” (if anyone can confirm, that would be great). I might do that at the next filter change in place of an electric lift pump. The other option is to install a Facet cube 12v fuel pump without a positive shut-off valve. They run between $50 - $60. I am on the fence about doing this, mainly because I do not no where I could connect the positive wire. I could run it to the starter battery (with a fuse in the system).

Hope this helps,

Jeff
