[C320-list] Wifi

Hi Ken,

Last season I purchased a RedPort Halo Wifi extender for exactly the reason you describe.
https://www.redportglobal.com/marine-satellite-internet-firewall-routers/halo-wifi-extender-system/

This device allows me to connect to the marina wifi from my mooring as well as wifi hotspots from my home internet provider. By running the antenna up to one of the spreaders I was able to access wifi hotspots several miles away.

The setup is a little buggy, and takes a moderate level of computer skills to navigate the connection process, but if you're comfortable setting up a home wifi network you should be OK with this.

I will note this is an expensive solution. If you are in an area where you have a cellphone signal you might try the hotspot from your phone first.

Good luck,

Steve

Ken,

I use cellphone service but at an anchorage I run an antenna up the mast with my spinnaker halyard. I have standard coaxial cable 50ft attached and connect this to a cellphone single booster inside the cabin. I also have a light line attached to the halyard hitch (not to the antenna) and I have to pull the antenna forward away from the (metal) mast with this line and attach it to the pulpit for best reception. Works well in remote places.
