Just to add another relative data point for cost vs insured value, like Scott we have all our insurance through Erie. Coverage (with muti-policy discount) for $71k value and $500k liability with $500 deductible and extra towing coverage added up to $1000 per incident came to $485.
I've been fortunate not to have to need it for anything boat-related so I cannot vouch for their effectiveness.
