[C320-list] Salon Table Pedestal

We enjoy our table/bed. That extension tube is essentially just two aluminum tubes with a gas piston in the middle. There is a plastic friction ring under that twisty knob (technical term) to lock the two tubes together. I found If it really gets jammed, remove the table top and twist the top tube. For me it worked so easily I can't figure out why it was locked in the first place. With a socket wrench you can disconnect the top tube completely. I lightly (read aggressively) sanded the friction ring and it has been working for the past few months without issue. There are pop rivets on the side of the tube, they just hold the plastic friction ring in place. No need to mess with them to dissemble the contraption.

I've seen the jamming problem when attempting to lower the table, but due to uneven pressure on one side. For your stuation, I'd suggest getting two people, each on opposite sides of the table, and pull up while wiggling it back and forth. Make sure the locking knob is fully released. I personally feel the table functions quite well. What would you replace it with, especially a table with the same shape? I cannot raise or lower it, and all attempts to do so have failed. I have removed the pedestal, and it seems to be completely locked up. Does anyone have any ideas how I might free it?There was a thread on this a couple of weeks ago, but none of the ideas presented then seem to work.Does someone know how the pedestal comes apart? Thanks,George WardJoshua#966
